An interesting aspect of living year-round on Lake Ontario in northern Wayne County, NY is the changing landscape of the sunset. We experience our nightly sunsets in Summer over the Lake, with beautiful colors shimmering across the water and afterglow emanating from the horizon. In the Fall, the sunset retreats southward over land and in the Spring, we celebrate its return.
Between December and June the Sun moves north in the sky, and between June and December it moves south. - Stanford SOLAR Center
The below video displays some early Spring sunsets over Lake Ontario in March and April 2009. This series includes sunsets over Sodus Point, a Wayne County, NY summer haven. Beautiful sunsets can be viewed from anywhere along Wayne County's northern lake shore during Summer.

Nothing could be more beautiful---and the music is so appropriate!

I've got some great Wayne County sunset photographs from May already, it is interesting how quickly the setting sun "moves" around the bend of Williamson and Sodus Point and out over Lake Ontario.

Perhaps we can encourage Wayne County artist James Zeger to do a sunset series of artwork!
