The Newark Farmers' Market is held every Thursday from 2:30pm - 6:00 at the Firemen's Field on Barker Parkway, from June through October. The market features locally grown produce and handmade items. Vendors must reside in Wayne County or a contiguous county and at least 75% or what each vendors sells must be homegrown with the remainder being grown in New York State. Food Stamps recipients are able to use their EBT cards at the market and new this year WIC recipients can use their produce checks, with participating vendors. FNMP coupons for Seniors and WIC recipients will also be accepted by most vendors again this year. Credit and Debit cards may also be used at the market.

The market is “Going Green and Giving Back” with re-usable bags in 2009. Customers who bring a non-perishable food donation will receive a re-usable grocery bag. All food donations will be given to the Newark Food Closet. This is a season-long promotion, sponsored by several local businesses and organizations.

The Newark Market is now on Facebook; for those interested in keeping up with events of the market, search for Newark Farmers’ Market and become a fan.
