“Legends & Haunts of Wayne County” Exhibit to open at Museum of Wayne County History
The Wayne County Historical Society’s Museum of Wayne County History is very excited to present the newest exhibit, “Legends & Haunts of Wayne County” in the Changing Exhibition Room. Rev. Lyn Dean-Dennie will be the featured speaker at the Exhibition Preview Party on August 21 at 7pm.
At the Museum of Wayne County History it is not unusual to hear footsteps at the top of the landing when no one is there, or see a movement from the corner of the eye, even cold rooms during a hot spell are not unheard of. These are possibly all telltale signs of a haunted location. And why not? Wayne County was the birthplace of modern spiritualism, in Hydesville. Guest speaker Dean-Dennie will speak on this and more.
The exhibit will also feature some legends that surround the towns in Wayne County, such as the legend of River Road between Lyons and Clyde, a parlour setting with future seeking devices and if visitors are patient and quiet, perhaps they can even capture a table levitating!
The exhibit runs from August 21 - November 14. The Museum of Wayne County History is open for summer hours from 10am-4pm Tues. - Saturday. For more information about this event, call the Museum of Wayne County History at 315-946-4943 or look at the website, www.waynehistory.org.
