Bruce Thompson of Hamburg, New York says that he and his wife make the Port of Newark a regular stop each year while traveling the Erie Canal. This year (2009) the Thompsons were "awestruck" by the most recent changes at the Port of Newark. He calls the artwork of the mural under the East Avenue bridge "mind-boggling" and says he has already taken many photos of it to share with friends back home. Bruce wishes that the beauty of the Port of Newark "would spread throughout the whole Canal".
