The Lake Ontario Wine Trail is a new organization of wineries, bed and breakfasts, restaurants, farm markets, and historic sites stretching along the Lake Ontario region from Route 104 in Webster to Mexico, Oswego County, as well as south on Route 350.
Members include Ashley Lynn Winery in Mexico; JD Wine Cellars in Macedon, Wayne County; Barbara's Vineyard Winery (a satellite tasting room for Swedish Hill Vineyard) in North Rose, Wayne County; Mayer's Lake Ontario Wine Cellars in Webster; Thorpe Vineyard in Wolcott, Wayne County; and Young Sommer Winery in Williamson, Wayne County.
The wine trail's debut trail event, A Taste of the Trail, took place from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, 19 September 2009 at JD Wine Cellars at Long Acres Farms, 1342 Eddy Road, Macedon. Admission was $10 and included tastings from five member wineries, a free trail passport, and a glass. The ribbon cutting was at 2 p.m.
