SUBMITTED by Larry Ann Evans, Museum of Wayne County History Executive Director (6-Oct-2009)

The best Haunted Jail this October is a real haunted jail! The Museum of Wayne County History has the exclusive rights to the only really haunted jail in Wayne County open to the public and when the jail cells are decorated for the spooky haunted jail, not even the ghosts can hold back their screams! Let the museum staff and volunteers scare the wits out of you October 23 & 24, just remember to bring someone along, to hold their hand!

Walk through the jail cells at the Butternut street Museum right over the spot where William Fee was hung in 1860! Do the mannequins move? Is there ghostly smoke in the air? Are the cells full of cobwebs and spirits? Come young, come old if you dare!

“Even though I help with the decorations and I know that the cobwebs aren’t real, there’s always that element of the real haunted jail underneath and that’s what’s really terrifying,” said Executive Director Larry Ann Evans.

There is parking on the street and in the back parking lot of the museum. Enter the museum through the back door, right off of the parking lot where the ghoul will meet you! Also, on Saturday, October 24, Lyons is having it’s very first Harvest Festival in the park and there will be hay rides up to the Haunted Jail from Church Street.

The Haunted Jail runs Friday the 23 and Saturday the 25 from 6pm – 9pm. Cost is $3 per person.

For more information about any of this event, call the Museum of Wayne County History, 21 Butternut St., Lyons, NY at 315-946-4943 or check out the website, www.waynehistory.org.
