On Friday, 25 September 2009 the opening of three new businesses in Lyons' "Centre Block" and the unveiling of Lyons' eighth mural were celebrated with an open house of sorts, an exciting event for the Village of Lyons that was well-attended by enthusiastic local villagers and townspeople alike. The Centre Building grand opening event also drew in interested parties from outside of the Lyons township.
The tenant businesses of the Centre Building, in order from north to south are: McGory's Parkside Pub, H & R Block, Parkview Salon and Tanning, and Embee's Cafe and Bakery. With the exception of H & R Block, all of these businesses are new 2009 additions to Lyons commerce.
The headlining event of the Grand Opening was a ribbon-cutting on the north end of the Centre Block, in combination with the introduction of the new mural by artist Maria Hoover portraying Lyons' 1936 American LaFrance pumper in its bay at the Steamer Hose Co. No. 2 firehouse. Join the celebration by viewing the Grand Opening for yourself, captured on video.
