The Christmas trees are up and the Holiday Boutique is going to be back at the Museum of Wayne County History 4-6 December 2009.

Hundreds of visitors came last year to enjoy the decorated trees that filled the museum and bought their holiday decorations and Christmas presents from the artisans and crafters placed throughout the museum during the Holiday Boutique. This year many artisans are back and some new ones too: Cathy Finley’s Beaded Jewelry, Anne Salerno with juniper wreaths, Floral Arrangements from the Settlers Post, woodworking and wood turning by Phil Paliotti, Chain mail jewelry and biker handmade accessories by Sharon Caves, Christmas Decorations by Lillian DeMarco, Quilts and more by Kathy Lewis, Mark Whitney and Forest Rat Photography, Greeting Cards by Loreen Jorgensen, Wooden ornaments by Jeffery Cheramie, Photography by Denise Eaton, Holiday Crafts by Marsha Fuller & Cheryl Cramer, Decorated Eggs by Diana Prutzman, Pen & Ink drawings by Donna Conklin, Joanne Miller with Primative Art, Handcrafted and Vintage Jewelry by Sue Norris & Maureen Williams of Dresden Manor and Paige Stoep with hand died wools and rug hooking. The Museum will also have a display of hand made wreaths and ornaments for sale, apart from their regular gift shop items including the calendar, “Old Bags of Wayne County”, the Wayne County Pack of Playing cards and the cookbook, Behind Bars; Recipes from the Old Jail.

This year the Holiday Boutique hours have been expanded. Hours are: Friday, 4 December 2009 and Saturday, 5 December 2009 from 10-6 and Sunday, 6 December 2009 from 12-4. The museum will also be selling raffle tickets for several unique prizes donated by area artists and merchants. Lunch will be served on Friday and Saturday from 11-2 and desserts and coffee all day, every day.

There will be a differently decorated Christmas tree in each room and the theme for the large tree in the Changing Exhibition Room will be Hats Off and will be decorated with some of the museum’s collection of hats.
