SUBMITTED by Jerry Ashley, Lyons Main Street Program Manager (10-Nov-2009)

Join the Lyons Main Street Program as we debut another first for Lyons - the "Lyons Main Street Program's Holiday Lights Parade"! We are looking to put Lyons on the Holiday Celebration map with our first wacky and fun parade that will celebrate LIGHTS! If it can be pulled, pushed, shoved, hauled, schlepped, towed, prodded or driven, cover it with lights and parade it downtown to celebrate the Holidays! (see the attached photos from other parades for ideas!) We are looking for individuals, businesses, groups and organizations to participate in whatever way that want. Sure, it'll be cold and more than likely there will be snow - DON'T LET THAT STOP YOU! Use your imagination - maybe ski the parade route or pull a sled or sleigh. Put lights on your snowmobile or ATV! Borrow Grandma's van and load up a bunch of carolers and drive the route...just make it as fun as you can! Put a holiday smile on everyone's face. Santa Claus will make an appearance on top of a fire truck!

The parade is scheduled Saturday evening, 5 December 2009, with step-off at 5 pm--line-up begins at 4:30 pm on Broad Street between William and Queens Streets. The parade will step-off at Broad and Queen Streets and continue south on Broad to a left on Church, east on Church to a left on William, north on William past the elementary school and disperse.
