SUBMITTED by Leonard John Cieslinski, Books, ETC. (12-Nov-2009)
On Sunday, 22 November 2009 at 4:00 PM at Books, ETC. Susan Baruch will present her new novel, Paternity. In Ms. Baruch’s novel, Joel Berger’s charmed life is fast slipping away. Determined to father a child before he dies, Joel makes a desperate appeal to the women of his macrobiotic dinner group for help. Soon he is surrounded by a colorful cast of female characters, including his iron-willed yet oddly endearing mother, Sylvia. You’ll laugh and cry along with the Berger’s as the story of their patchwork family begins to unfold, taking some deliciously unexpected turns along the way.
A recently retired Kodak scientist/engineer (with eleven U.S. patents to her credit), Susan Baruch is also an essayist and poet. Her humorous essay, It’s Personal, was featured in the anthology: A Cup of Comfort for Women in Love, published by Adams Media in October 2005. Her elegiac poem, Remembering in Color, was included in the 2005 issue of The Pinnacle Hill Review published by Writers & Books of Rochester, NY. She has also been a contributor to Kodak’s blog: 1000words.kodak.com. And last year she appeared in the documentary film, The Muslims I Know. Susan resides in Pittsford, New York with her husband and their three red-headed teenage children. Paternity is her first novel.
This event is free and open to the public. We will meet at Books, ETC., 78 W Main St., Macedon. If you have any questions, please respond by email to books_etc@yahoo.com or phone John Cieslinski at 585-474-4116.
