The residents of Lyons enjoyed their first annual holiday light parade this past Saturday.
The parade, hosted by the Lyons Main Street Program, offered the community an opportunity to shine. Entries were a myriad of transportation devices that were pushed, pulled, driven and ridden and covered with lights galore.
The winners of the light contest for Best Entry were Scott & Kelly Beaudette and the award for the Best Use of Lights was given to the Lyons Fire Department. The Lyons Fire Department chauffered the parade's special guest... Santa Claus.
The "Light Up Lyons" parade was a first time event for the small village. Other first time successes this past year were the Fall Harvest Festival and the 1939 Film Retrospective. These events are part of Lyons' village effort to promote its merchants and fellow residents along with turning Lyons into a self-sustaining and viable community.
Lyons' next fundraiser will be the "Red & White Affair" that will be held in February at Studebakers Grille. Tickets for this event will be on sale soon!
