Wayne County artist James Zeger finished the first mural at Captain Jack's in Sodus Point on Thursday, 21 January 2010. He had been working on it for the last few weeks. The mural is of the old Sodus Point pier lighthouse and a ferry steamboat named "Arundell" that came into Sodus Bay in the 1930's. The mural is 4 feet by 8 feet.

Great job James! I love the smoke coming out of the smokestack. James Zeger helped with the first mural "Winston's Dream" in Lyons which kicked off what now the longest mural trail in the world of over 70 miles. For more information on murals visit www.muralmania.org

James Said,
Thank you, this mural was great to work on. I learned a lot of new and interesting information about the area when I was collecting photographs and doing research for the mural. I have started the second mural today. It will be a scene of the Coal Trestle with the coal steamship "Fontana".

A wonderful step back in time, yet having lived in this area all my life, remembering my own experience of same, a sense of being part of both. Also, as one who loves the artistry of early 1900 postcards, James you have captured the beauty. Thank-you for sharing your gift.
