Gil Burgess Said,
I've always considered myself to be a "reader." Like most people, I have my own tastes in reading and usually I've actually read books although I can understand that audio books can serve a good purpose and, after hearing it mentioned on a number of occasions, I listened to "The Shack" for about 3 hours while driving on a long trip---and that was all I could stand! I felt that by listening for as long as I did, I gave it a fair chance and I just felt that it was a ridiculous waste of my time! ---But, I think it's a great idea for Village Bookmarket to provide an opportunity for people to get together to discuss books!

I read The Shack a year ago and I have to say that I often think of the book and reading it again. This book really had an impact on me. I understand that it is a work of fiction but to me the idea of being able to talk with God really made me feel good. Alot of questions that were brought up in the book are ones that I often had myself. I have recommended this book to others some have liked it, others not. I guess it just depends on your personal taste.

I started the shack and found it very disapointing as the secret came as such boring familiar dribble well marketed to a hungry spirtuality seeking sector of the population. These books come along about every few years as puplishing houses know it is automatic revenue. Hardly anything creative or interesting as far as liteture goes.
Of course if we buried it and some one finds it in 500 years peole will call it another chapter of the bible and take it as the word! Old gives the validity that some one knows the plan and the purpose of life.

I've read some good reviews of The Shack and it's been on my "Books to Read" list since July or August.

Currently listening to "The Shack" audio CD during my daily commute to and from Rochester and I am enjoying it so far. I look forward to the drive!
