Job Searching on the Internet & Resume Writing Computer Classes Offered at Lyons Public Library
The Lyons Public Library will be offering two free computer classes for job seekers in February 2010. On Monday, Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Job Searching on the Internet will be taught. Participants will receive hands on experience on how to conduct job searches on the Internet. Many companies now require that job seekers fill out online applications so finding the sites is very important.
On Wednesday, Feb. 10 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Resume Writing will be taught. Participants will learn the right way to create an effective resume. While various companies will still accept paper resumes, others require that a resume be emailed or attached to their online application.
Both classes are free but registration is required and limited to 10 for each class. Participants are encouraged to bring a flash drive if they have one or they may buy one from the library at a discounted price. Instructors from the Bridge Program at FLCC will be teaching the classes. The Bridge Program is funded by a grant through the State University of New York to provide training, free of charge, to adults and youths who meet financial and family guidelines. Classes are followed up with support to participants in finding and keeping employment, enrolling in college or enhancing career opportunities. For more information on Bridge, go to the following website http://www.flcc.edu/bridge/index.cfm or call (585) 394-3500 ext. 7466.
For more information on either of these classes or to register, call the library at (315) 946-9262 or email lyonslibrary@owwl.org.
