Congratulations to John Lese who is this year's recipient for the Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award.
Mr. Lese, a lifelong resident of Lyons has become a pillar of the small community. He is a Veteran of the Korean War, an avid high school sports fan, Chairperson for the Lyons Football League and a member of St. Michael's Church. He was also Lyons' Chief of Police for many years. Lese can be seen almost on any day walking around town, still smiling and waiving to passerbys.
Past award winners were also there to pass on the congratulations to John for being a member of the community that everyone can be proud of.
Lese's contributions to the community were celebrated with his family and friends this past Monday evening at an annual dinner hosted at Trombino's by the Lyons Chamber of Commerce.
The Lyons Chamber of Commerce is the driving force behind many local activities. They sponsor the Farmers Market, the Holiday Lights Contest, Mural Mania and many other programs that assist residents and merchants alike. One of the biggest sponsor programs going is the "Business of the Month". This award is especially important as it takes pride and confidence within the community to make the merchant successful. Just recently, this award has been given to the Lyons Community Center for the month of February.
