“Neighbors bring food with death and flowers with sickness and little things in between. Boo was our neighbor. He gave us two soap dolls, a broken watch and chain, a pair of good-luck pennies, and our lives. But neighbors give in return. We never put back into the tree what we took out of it: we had given him nothing, and it made me sad.” To Kill a Mockingbird--Chapter 31
Boo Radley left some treasures in the knot hole of a tree for Jem & Scout to find. Jem Finch kept these and other treasures in an old cigar box.
In commemoration of Palmyra-Macedon-Walworth’s Our Big Read, “To Kill A Mockingbird”, a box has been planted in the heart of downtown Palmyra.
Look for a shop in whose window stands Boo’s tree, knot hole and “treasure”.
All you need is a little time, a logbook (which can be as simple as a piece of folded paper) and an ink stamp. If you do not have an ink stamp, you can use your thumb print, initials, or your signature.
Once the Letterbox is found, you stamp the Letterbox’s stamp into your logbook and stamp your stamp (or your thumb print, or sign your name or initials) into the Letterbox’s logbook with the date. Easy!
The Letterbox will be available for the whole month of March. Come, join the Our Big Read Letterbox Treasure Hunt!
If you have questions, please call Village Bookmarket, 597-0210, and ask for Marcia.

Because this Letterbox has been planted as a part of our community’s Big Read, everyone is invited to follow the clue and find the Letterbox.
