SUBMITTED by Kirk Baker, Williamson First Presbyterian Church (12-Mar-2010)
The red, brick church at 4057 Main Street (Williamson Presbyterian) is inviting everyone to join them for a Palm Sunday Breakfast on Sunday, 28 March 2010. Pancakes, eggs, sausage, homefries, juice, and coffee will be served from 7:30 – 9:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall, in the back entrance. Tickets cost $5.00 for adults, and $3.50 for children 10 and under. This is not a fundraiser, but an event that announces the start of Holy Week, the most important week in the Christian year.
The Williamson Fellowship of Churches will hold events during Holy Week for all those who wish to observe Easter in special ways. On Thursday, 1 April 2010, there will be a soup-and-bread dinner at the red, brick church at 6:00 PM, followed by a Maundy Thursday service at 7 PM. On Friday, 2 April 2010, there will be a crosswalk, with readings and hymns, starting at the Reformed Church on Bennett Street, down to the First Baptist Church on Main, and back to the Reformed for a potluck luncheon. That evening, there will be a special Good Friday service at 7 PM at the First Baptist Church. On Easter Sunday, 4 April 2010, an outdoor Sunrise Service will be held at the Reformed Church in Pultneyville, as well as services at every church in town.
The Palm Sunday Breakfast is a way to recognize that Holy Week is here, uniting around one shared faith, regardless of denomination. All are invited; for more information, call 878-2399.
