SUBMITTED by Irene Unterborn, Village of Palmyra Celebrations Committee (5-Mar-2010)
Starting to get that Spring Fever, and need an excuse to be out of doors even though there is a bit of snow left on the ground? Well, here it is, the first ever “Feathered Friends Photo Contest”!
To get you out of the winter doldrums, and set the mood for Palmyra’s 2nd Annual Bird Fest that will take place in May, we are inviting birding enthusiasts and nature lovers alike to enter their LOCAL bird photos in a contest. First prize will win you a Cedar Bluebird House and “Birding the Great Lakes Seaway Trail” Audio Tour; second prize: Finch feeder and “Birding the Great Lakes Seaway Trail” Audio Tour; and third prize: DVD “Winged Wonders, Beautiful Birds” with instrumental background music.
The rules are simple! Bird photos must have been taken by you in Wayne County, in flight or perched (whatever way you viewed them), printed photos can be no larger than 8”x10”, digitally e-mailed photos must be 300 dpi and have an 8”x10” print size (or less), include species, photo location, and a short story behind the photo if there is one. Photos must have been taken by you, and have not been previously published in any commercial publication for compensation. The committee will be using the photos collected to promote the Palmyra Bird Fest 2010 via the web, posters, and flyers. There is no entry fee, and we ask that you enter up to 2 photos per person.
Entries must be received by 15 April 2010, either at the Palmyra Village Hall at144 E Main Street, Palmyra, NY or via e-mail at vpalmyra@yahoo.com. Remember to include your name, address, and phone number. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges from the Bird Fest Committee, and will be notified via e-mail or telephone. Any questions please call 597-4849.
We look forward to seeing you at Palmyra’s Bird Fest 2010 on May 8th! Have fun and keep bird watching!

Sorry I don't regularly check this site... the photo contest was won by Geral Smith of Palmyra for her photo of a chick-a-dee.
