SUBMITTED by Kirk Baker, Williamson First Presbyterian Church (4-Mar-2010)
Teen members of the red, brick church (Williamson Presbyterian) on Main Street are holding a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday, 20 March 2010 to support a future mission trip. The dinner is from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, at 4057 Main Street (Ridge Rd), at the back entrance. Tickets cost $6.00, or $3.50 for children eight and under.
Last summer, the group spent a week outside of New York City, working on a retreat center, and traveled into the City to take part in Midnight Run, a Christian mission that takes food and clothing to homeless persons. Ten young people and three adult Youth Leaders took part, calling the event “life-changing” and “truly Christian.” The trips are designed to link what the teens learn throughout the year with a real experience, and to show them there are people living in ways very different than usually found in Williamson.
Due to costs, money raised at the dinner will mostly be banked for a large mission trip in the summer of 2011, though some will support day-long mission activities with area Christian organizations, like Cameron Community Ministries in Rochester. For more information, please call (315) 589-8260.
