The Lyons Main Street Program would like to extend it's sincere thanks to Kyra Yon, Director of the Goal Chaserz, as well as Americorps Volunteers, the Village of Lyons and our own volunteers for making Saturday, 17 April 2010 a very special workday. These organizations came together--all ages working together--to help beautify our waterfront. A total of 132 volunteer hours was banked--or $1,980.00 in volunteer services--to help defray the in-kind services that the Village had to provide for the Canal Waterfront project grant. That is FANTASTIC!
Special thanks to Mike Salerno and the Village DPW, our fantastic Lyons Fire Dpeartment for allowing us shelter from the cold winds and sprinkles and to Sharon Lubitow for her DELICIOUS cookies, to the Lyons Chamber of Commerce for their donation of goodies to keep the workers going and to the Goal Chaserz for their hospitality in sharing their lunches with their fellow workers. We love the Goal Chaserz! Great group of young ladies and a GREAT program!
We will be meeting again on Saturday, 8 May 2010 at 9:30 am again to plant the new perennial bed. We are still seeking plant divisions or starts or purchased perennial donations...if you aren't sure what to purchase, you can contact the Lyons Main Street Program (315) 871-4220 or the Village Office (315) 946- 4531 (ext. 10 - clerk treasurers office) and ask what plants are needed to beautify the north shore of our Erie Canal Waterfront! Again, many thanks to all that assisted!
