SUBMITTED by Theresa Streb, Lyons Public Library (15-Apr-2010)

On Sunday, 11 April 2010 the Lyons Public Library and the Friends of the Library honored the Volunteers of the Year 2009-2010, Joseph and Carol Slattery at a reception at the Library. They were presented with the Pride of the Library Award plaque, a $30 gift card and a bouquet of pink carnations.

Joseph and Carol Slattery, Volunteers of the Year

The couple has been actively involved with both the Library and the Friends for many years. Carol served as Library Trustee for some time and Joseph was President of the Friends of the Library for several years as well. They have been involved with the Friends Annual Book and Bake Sale, the library’s Capital Campaign and Long Range Planning Committee, the Friends monthly book reviews and have delivered library materials to homebound library patrons for several years. They are true library advocates and are greatly appreciated by both the Library and the Friends of the Library. A plaque listing the current and past winners of the Pride of the Library Award is being placed in the Community Room.
