The Wayne County Historical Society Map Club will hold their April meeting at the Museum of Wayne County History. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, 14 April 2010 at 7pm.

Eleven members attended the March meeting which was held at the Wayne County Historian’s office. Members viewed various maps including a reproduction of a land agent’s map of Sodus Point and the 1858 Gillette wall map. County Historian, Peter Evans, said it was the “single most important map that we have for research.” Map reconstruction was discussed and the club viewed many of the atlases and maps that the historian keeps at his office along with census records and research databases.

Map club member Gary Fitzpatrick will lead the April meeting and will give a lecture on early cartographic landmarks.
