Canal Community Picnic
On Saturday, 5 June 2010 from 3:00 pm - 7:30 pm, there will be an Erie Canal Community Picnic in Lyons' Southside Canal Park. This Canal event is being held in conjunction with our regional program, the Western Erie Canal Main Street Program, and our sister Main Street Programs from Albion and Lockport, to celebrate Canalways Trails Day.
Bring a picnic feast to enjoy while relaxing with your friends and family and meeting new folks! There will be a contest for the best "Themed Picnic Setting" (think Martha Stewart or House and Gardens!) and a Picnic Basket raffle, 50/50, and entertainment. If you are feeling lazy, there will be vendors on hand to make your picnic for you! The Lyons Main Street Program will be debuting their new "summer colors" polos and t-shirts just in time for Peppermint Days.

Attendance was low due to so many events scheduled for the same day - the Gristmill Annual Garage Sale, Artisans Faire at the museum, Peppermint Days' Rumble Run, Community Center's Golf Tournament, Canalway Trails Day events including Fairport's Canal Days and the annual Clifton Springs "Sulpher Springs" Festival where our Fire Dept. and Lyons HS band marched in their Saturday evening parade. Those that did come out enjoyed themselves. We will be researching a better date for next year and adding activities like sack races, three-legged races, egg toss and so forth - activites for everyone. Hope to see you there!
