SUBMITTED by Bonnie Hays, Historic Palmyra (3-Jun-2010)
On Thursday, June 17th, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Historic Palmyra will be having its season grand opening for 2010. This is a complimentary community event for all. Start at the Alling Coverlet for awards and initial introduction of museums followed by tours of all four museums. Complete your tours and go to the Allling for Ice Cream Sundaes. You can’t beat that. Come and see friends and enjoy the amazing history of Palmyra.
For those of you that haven’t been to the museums in our community it is a great time to come. Educational, exciting, and a source of great pride for the community of Palmyra. Historic Palmyra is an amazing place. Did you know we have the largest collection of hand-woven coverlets in America? Did you know that although some may try to copy and recreate there is only one original, authentic Erie Canal General Store and home still in its original condition? The Wm. Phelps General Store at 140 Market Street is that building. Did you know that printing presses were made right here in Palmyra?
Come and visit and see all this wonderful information in an enjoyable setting. Fill your mind and your tummy. Historic Palmyra needs your support!!! Please send all your visitors and friends to these amazing museums that are open all year long and do so many great things in and for our community. See you all there.
