3 on 3 B-Ball Tournament and R&B sensation Pop Jones at Lyons Peppermint Days
A Lyons Community Center sponsored 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament has been announced by the Peppermint Days Committee to take place on William Street in downtown Lyons, at 10 am, Saturday, 10 July 2010, to coincide with other festivities at this year's Lyons Peppermint Days. Boys and girls may register in the following divisions: 12 and under, ages 13 - 15 and 16 - 18 (graduating HS Seniors). Pre-registration is $40.00 per team or $50.00 per team the day of the tournament. A portion of the registration fees will go to A.I.D.S. Awareness.
The Lyons Community Center will also sponsor Rhythm and Blues artist Pop Jones at the historic Ohmann Theatre (65 William Street) on Saturday night, 10 July 2010, 8 pm - 9:30 pm. Entry to the show is a $5.00 donation per person at the door. Other activities that have been scheduled during Lyons' Peppermint Days (8-11 July 2010, downtown Lyons) is a Kiddy Parade and entertainment in the park, Friday, 9 July 2010, and a tractor show, tractor barrel racing, "slow" tractor race and a tractor square dance, a "Junk in Your Trunk" sale, Grand Parade and "Thunder Over the Erie" fireworks display, Saturday, 10 July 2010, as well as an antique and special interest car show, a special showing of American Gaffiti at the Ohmann Theatre, and the "Ducky 50/50" (a rubber duck race on the canal sponsored by the Elks Lodge #869) on Sunday, 11 July 2010.
