Sure, the benefits of higher taxes, incompetent officials, and a village government so entrenched in their little power base that that it's just sad to look at.

Seems to me that *competent* officials would be a benefit of village life, when taxpayers participate in the election process...

I just don't understand why people have to be so verbally cruel on such a wonderful website. I don't think that every person on the Village Board should be categorized like that. Is there room for improvement on that board? Yup! We just had an election and everyone in this community had an opportunity to run for a seat and assist in making changes they felt were necessary. Only two people stepped up to the plate. Even if you don’t like them they offered their time to this community. The new people have only been in office like two or three months and you think you should categorize them in that way. They have not even had time to prove themselves. Please think about this before making blanket comments throwing the entire village government under a bus. I do agree that there are changes that need to happen and I would hope that we all would let that board know what specifics we want changed. They are not mind readers. If dissolution is shot down and the government remains; I challenge the community to send letters to the board stating what is good and what needs to be changed.

Just want to say "Thank You" to John at Books Etc for caring about this village. He is a caring business owner and needs to think about how this will impact the business district. With out a firm plan he has no assurances of changes for the good or bad. This is just the way the dissolution process works and that you have to just hope for the best with a plan coming after the vote. Understand how this might be unsettling for him. He has every right to fight for the village if he wants to.
