Long Acre Farms announces exclusive ice cream flavor for 2010 season
Long Acre Farm’s second annual ice cream creation and naming contest proved to be a popular treat for all ages. Entries were taken during the month of May, and the winning flavor of Snicker Poodle was announced on June 5 to kick off the celebration of Dairy Month on the farm.
Contestants were instructed to choose one flavor, several ingredients and one sauce or swirl to create their flavor. The winner was chosen based upon taste, visual appeal, creativity, and marketability. After reviewing countless entrees, Paul Richards, creator of the Flavor of the Year Snicker Poodle, won over the taste buds of Long Acre Farm’s staff with his recipe of a vanilla flavored base, chocolate flakes, peanuts, and a caramel swirl. Dar’s Delights, local ice cream company and provider to Long Acre Farms, took Paul’s checklist and created a tasty treat for all to enjoy throughout the summer and fall.
Although there could only be one winner, the farm showed their appreciation for each participant by offering a free Junior cone for each entry. Paul not only walked away from the contest with the coveted title of Flavor of the Year winner, but also received a season pass, a gift basket of farm favorites, and a feature on the Long Acre Farm’s web page, www.longacrefarms.com.
Snicker Poodle’s debut in the Sweet Cone Shop has already seen great success and is expected to be a new favorite of the season. Come join ice cream lovers one and all and try a scoop of this fresh new flavor. But keep an eye out for the next ice cream creation and naming contest in May 2011 and your chance to see your recipe put to the test.
