Over 500 Cyclists of all ages enjoyed what Newark had to offer on Tuesday as they plied their way to Albany in the 2010 Erie Canal Bike Tour. They visited the now famous Newark Chamber of Commerce/Village of Newark visitor's center at T. Spencer Knight Canal Port and inspected the true to life canal theme murals.
Chamber of Commerce representative John Zornow was on hand to tell them about the murals and guide the bikers to facilities, stores, and restaurants. Many just took a nap under the shade trees of Newark's beautiful canal port.
"I heard familiar comments about our stop" said Zornow, who indicated that like the boaters, they considered Newark's stop "The best on the line."
