On Thursday, June 24, 2010, a group of twenty-two people met in Macedon to discuss strategies to promote the Village of Macedon. These people came together to answer the resolution that has been filed for a vote on village dissolution. There followed a very lively discussion on the issues and the participants voted to begin a formal group to promote the benefits of staying a village. They named this group Village Pride.

Most of the participants were surprised at the lack of good information on the topic of dissolution. The New York State law, Article 17 A, for dissolving a village is very vague and filled with ambiguities. The group decided that it would be advantageous to give the citizens as much information as possible so that when it came time for the vote, citizens could vote responsibly.

This group is encouraging village residents to become involved and educated so that the vote will be the voice of the people. For more information on the status of the group, to request a copy of Article 17A, or for volunteering, please call John Cieslinski at 585-474-4116 or Greg Frey at 585-455-2824.

Thank you!
