Lyons' Chamber of Commerce participated in this year's Erie Canal Canalsplash Event held August 14th, by celebrating their 36th Farmers' Market Anniversary in Lyons' Central Park.
The Farmers' Market, a small, but meaningful segment of the Chamber of Commerce operates from late summer till late fall offering locally grown produce, fresh cut flowers, home-baked goods, eggs, honey and maple syrup.
At this special anniversary celebration, musical guests Roland Pray and Nestor Ortiz gathered to play a meaningful collection of easy listening tunes that remembered days of yesterday to the hot songs of today. "It doesn't matter if there are 5000 or 50 people, as long as they are having a good time, it makes me feel like I have done my job", says Pray.
Pray, lead singer on acoustic guitar, hails locally in Newark and is a compilation of an earlier band known as "Unbalanced". With the welcomed addition of Nestor, percussionist and beatboxer, the band became “Roland and Friends”.
The Lyons Farmers' Market will run each Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. until October 23rd when it will kick off the 2nd annual Lyons PumpkinPalooza fall festival.
Shopping at the Lyons Farmers' Market is just one way to do a lot of little things that count... Buy locally, meet your friends, eat healthy, and hear great music!
