SUBMITTED by Theresa Streb, Lyons Public Library (19-Aug-2010)

The dolls currently on display at the Lyons Public Library, in the cabinet located near the circulation desk, were given to the library several years ago by Jean Cummings. Jean, who died in 2007, had been a teacher at the Lyons Central School District for over 40 years. Some of dolls are based on characters in classic children’s literature while others are not. For some time the dolls had been on display in the Hotchkiss Building through the courtesy of the Lyons Heritage Society. The dolls will stay in the cabinet for the month of August and will then be put on display in the Local History Room for the rest of the year.

Visit the Lyons Public Library at 122 Broad Street to see the dolls. Call the Library at (315) 946-9262 for more information about placing a collection in the display cabinet or about general library services.
