Newark's West Union Street was "automobile row" in 1939, with virtually all makes of cars represented. A group of teenage boys could walk the "row", check out all the new models and go fishing on the canal at the same time.

This building at 319 West Union Street, housed the local Ford dealer, Karl W. Herman, who also handled the new Mercury line for 1939. The building still exists as Colacino Electric!
