   The Newark girls’ tennis team, defeated Penn Yan on Friday and followed up with a win on Monday against Bloomfield and now have five wins on the season. Meghann Dygert won both of her singles matches, defeating her Penn Yan opponent (6-3, 6-4)  won 7-6, 6-4 on Monday against Bloomfield.  As a result of her performance, Meghann is the team’s Player of the Week, according to coach Jack Fisher. 


   Last week's player of the week, captain Katelyn Zonneville, also claimed match victories against Penn Yan and Bloomfield. At first doubles, Elizabeth Erway and Lindsay Ochs won 6-4, 6-1 against Bloomfield and Newark's other doubles combo of Kelsey Rossignol amd Kelly Eberle defeated their Penn Yan opponents, 7-5, 6-1. 
            Volleyball
   The Lady Reds volleyball team lost to Mercy on Monday night 0-3 (20-25, 15-25, 16-25).  Melissa Kline paced Newark offensively with 6 kills, and Christina Denniston recorded 7 digs on the defensive end. 
   “We fought hard against a very talented Class A team and played well,” said coach Matt May. The Reds are in action today against Penn Yan at home.
