Travis DeLyser (in white) gave Marion two goals and three
assists against Bolivar-Richburg on Saturday

WAYNE COUNTY – Marion’s Black Knights, the top-seeded Class C team in the Section V playoffs, ran roughshod over Bolivar-Richburg Saturday night, getting a 6-0 win and moving on to the semifinal round, with a game against fifth-seeded Kendall on Wednesday.
But unbeaten Pal-Mac, the second-seeded team in the tough Class A pool, got bushwhacked on its home field by tenth-seeded Greece Arcadia, a team with a losing record, 2-1.

For Marion, the evening belonged to Travis DeLyser and Danish foreign exchange student Andre Winther – each scored two goals, and DeLyser added three assists. Nick DeLyser and Nate Holahan added the other two scores for Marion, with Tyler Miller getting an assist on Travis DeLyser’s first goal and Sam Silco getting the credit for an assist on Travis’s second.  Travis now has 17 goals this season (with 14 assists); Winther has 11 goals.
Rick DePasquale scored Pal-Mac’s lone goal, with Greece-Arcadia getting its points from Kevin O’Hara in the 34th minute (with an assist by Anthony Collili), and Josh Opladen dealing the finishing shot in the 75th minute. The Red Raiders finish their season with a fine 15-1-1 record, but make an early exit from post-season play.
