NEWARK (Oct 10 10) -- The Newark Lady Reds volleyball team got a 3-0 win over Geneva on Thursday night and had a 2-1 lead over Honeoye Falls/Lima on Saturday afternoon before losing, 3-2.
In the Geneva win, Allison Miller was the power at the net with seven kills, Melissa Kline right behind her with six kills. Newark won 25-20, 25-23 and 25-10.
On Homecoming afternoon, the Reds and HFL traded wins in the first two games, then Newark took the third, 25-13, looking to finish the match in the fourth game. But HFL took the next two games, 27-25 and 25-18. Miller again led the attack for Newark with seven more kills and blocked two shots besides. Kline did even better with 10 kills and four service aces, with Maria Croft lending support with 31 assists.
