Judy Zanin, member, Palmyra Historic Preservation Commission, thanks Dr. Judith Wellman for her talk on The Search for Equality, the Underground Railroad, and African American Life in Wayne County. Dr. Wellman's talk was part of Palmyra's Ninth Period History Class series which focuses on history and preservation. Dr. Wellman's research is fascinating. It is amazing how large a role Wayne county had in abolitionism. Her research revealed over 30 homes and buildings connected to the underground railroad and African American life are still standing. She also shared the research process of searching old records for information and opened a window on the lives of African Americans in Wayne county. Wonderful presentation! Thank you to Palmyra Historic Preservation Commission for an informative and enjoyable talk. Connie Cass
