SUBMITTED by Linda Werts, District 7 Federated Garden Clubs of New York State (17-Nov-2010)
The 7th District Federated Garden Clubs of New York State have chosen Wayne County as site for their annual Candlelight Tour of homes. The Thirtieth Candlelight Tour will be held on December 5th from noon to 5 p.m. This year homeowners from Palmyra and Macedon are graciously opening their homes. The Garden Clubs of Section IX and X will festively decorate five homes of character and distinction along with a model home located at Parkwood Heights Senior Living Campus.
Palmyra homes on this year's tour include the Gellatly home at 140 Cuyler Street, the Hall home at 217 Cuyler Street and the Spencer home at 125 Jackson Street. In Macedon you are invited to tour the Elting home at 148 Alderman Road, the Sherman home at 1 Olympus Drive and the Model Home at Parkwood Heights at 1303 Harwood Lane.
Refreshements will be available in a cozy fireside setting at Parkwood Heights in Macedon.
Tickets at $20 donation are limited and may be purchased at Mackenzie's in Palmyra, Wayside Garden Center in Macedon, Don's Own Flowers in Geneva, Flowers by Stella in Canandaigua and several Monroe County florists and garden centers. Please call 315-597-3758 for those locations.
District 7 Third Assistant, Catherine Preston, along with Section Chairpersons Barb Herendeen of Section IX and Anne Hauber of SectionX have been working throughout the year to prepare for this grand fundraising event. All proceeds from ticket donations benefit the many civic beautification, conservation, youth scholarships, and workshops offered by the 7th district.
As our Canal Season comes to a close this tour of homes carries tourism and interest in our historic Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor into the Winter and Holiday Season. Purchase tickets now so that you won't miss an opportunity to tour and visit two lovely Canal towns.
