Wayne County has many great local farms where people can get fresh Christmas Trees. One local farm, Ontario Barn Vineyards, hopes that more folks will support the local growers this year rather than getting a plastic, made-in-china tree from some megastore. The farm is located at 513 Whitney Road in Ontario, about a mile south of 104 between Lincoln and County Line Roads. Open for fresh cut and U-cut Christmas trees on Saturday and Sundays (only) in December. Loyal supporters have gotten their Christmas trees there for years, even before the farm changed hands five years ago.

"People come with their snow shoes, kids, dogs, sleds and saws and hike through our beautiful wooded acres to find that perfect tree," said Chris Staub, the present-day owner."There are hundreds of trees, all sizes and kinds and finding that right one in our woods is kind of fun...like an easter egg hunt...only with trees...not eggs, " Staub muses.
Ontario Barn Vineyards winery and tasting room is expected to open soon and will be the first winery in Ontario, New York.
