WAYNE COUNTY (Nov 6 10) – Senior striker Travis DeLyser blasted in the first two goals and assisted on the third as the top-seeded Marion Black Knights swept the Section V Class C championship this afternoon with a 4-0 win over second-seeded Geneseo.

DeLyser took the first goal unassisted, but got help from Sam Silco on the second. He then manufactured the assist on Nate Holahan’s goal. Andre Winther finished the scoring with an unassisted goal.
The scores were DeLyser’s 21st and 22nd goals of the season – and his 16th assist for the 15-2-2 Knights. Senior keeper Brad LeFevre stopped seven shots to seal the shutout – he has a 0.573 goals-against average. Geneseo finishes its season 16-2-2.

Last year at this time, the Cuba-Rushford Rebels were unbeaten and came into a game with Lyons expecting to dominate.
   The Lions crushed them.
But tonight, although Lyons senior Jordan Smith had 16 kills and sophomore Ryenn Smith added 13 kills, the Rebels outlasted the unbeaten 19-0 Lions and took the Section V DDD crown, 3-2. Lyons won the first game, then ran into big trouble, ending the night 25-19, 19-25, 17-25, 25-22 and 16-25.
In the late game at Cal-Mum high school, Harley-Allendale-Columbia smothered Clyde-Savannahm 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-15). Te Eagles had come into the tournament as the third seed; HAC was the top seed, riding a 12-game win streak and an 18-2 record.
