SUBMITTED by Linda Werts, Park Presbyterian Mission Committee (8-Nov-2010)
Park Presbyterian Church is hosting a Silent Auction and Fair Trade Sale on Saturday, November 13th from 10am - 4pm and Sunday, November14th from 9am - 12:30pm. The Auction offers over 100 items for all ages and interests including art work from local artists John Domm, Bonnie Evangelist and Bill Finewood, books, gift certificates, jewelry, merchandise, services and much more. We are in awe of the generosity of our church members and the community with their donations in support of our mission project to bring clean water to the village of Cedralito, Mexico.
Our Fair Trade Sale will be selling coffees, soups, chocolates, olive oil, handicrafts and Christmas items from around the world. Each purchase provides dignity, hope and income to disadvantaged peoples around the world. Featured this year are a variety of handicrafts from Presbyterian women of the Yucatan, Mexico as well as "Mary's Necklaces" crocheted by Park's women.
A team from Park Church has been working with Living Waters for the World (livingwatersfortheworld.org) throughout the year in preparation for installing a Living Waters water system at the "Monte Horeb" Presbyterian Church in the village of Cedralito, Quintana Roo, Mexico (population: 286). Some members of the team of Tracy Clingerman, Jeanne and Paul Salisbury, Barb and Bill Smith, Linda and Kurt Werts along with Pastor Christy Wareham will be travelling to Mexico in February to finalize plans for the Spring installation.
We invite you to start your Christmas shopping early with a gift to yourself and at the same time a gift of clean water to one of the 286 residents of Cedralito, Mexico.
On Sunday, the 14th, a Quiche Luncheon will be served at 12:30pm. Auction bidding will close and tallies will be reported and celebrated! Items may be picked up between 1-3pm. The luncheon is free will offering, but reservations appreciated: 315-331-2255, parkchurch110@gmail.com.
