NEWARK GARDEN CLUB ANNOUNCES WINNERS
The "Pumpkin Walk" sponsored by the Newark Garden Club was an overwhelming success with close to 300 people enjoying the pre-Halloween event.
With over 50 carved-lite pumpkins on the "Walk", Perkins Park was a-glow and busy from 6-8:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 23rd. Cider, donuts and cookies were enjoyed by the walkers along the way.
The "carved pumpkins" were judged prior to the "Pumpkin Walk" by Mary Christopher and Shelley DiRenzo, members of the Wayne County Council of the Arts. The winners were as follows: Pre-School- Amber Breemes, Kdg.-Grade 2 -Sean Donoghue, Grades 3-5-Miranda Meyer, Grades 6-8 -Evelyn Childs, Adult- Resident of DeMay and Grand Prize-Mike Concert.
The Newark Garden Club members appreciated the help given by the Boy Scouts, the 4HClub, the First United Methodist Youth Team and all those who participated and attended. The funds raised will be used for the Newark Garden Club's Civic Beautification projects in the coming year. The Newark Garden Club is affiliated with the 7th District State Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. and the National Garden Clubs, Inc.
