RETRIEVED from New York State Senator Micheal F. Nozzolio's Newsroom (18-Nov-2010)
New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio continues his unwavering commitment to the brave men and women serving our Nation overseas by hosting his annual Holiday Drive for the Troops. As he did last year, Senator Nozzolio is once again working with several local leaders to expand the Holiday Drive, including New York State Assemblyman Bob Oaks, New York State Assemblyman Gary Finch and Webster Supervisor Ron Nesbitt.
Each year during the Holiday Season, Senator Nozzolio collects nonperishable items from the community to be sent to military personnel deployed overseas. Senator Nozzolio was inspired to begin this annual drive with the help and support of Belinda McElroy of Sodus. Belinda’s son Patrick is currently serving overseas in Okinawa.
“Our soldiers have left their family and friends and the comfort of their homes in order to serve a cause greater than themselves. We must never forget the sacrifices they make for us every single day,” said Senator Nozzolio. “Making a small donation and providing them with the little comforts from home is just one way that we can all say ‘thank you’.”
Nonperishable items such as snacks, gum, hard candy, instant coffee and dry-mix beverages such as iced tea and lemonade can be dropped off at the following locations:
Anyone who would like their donated items to be sent to a specific soldier from our region who is currently stationed overseas should contact Senator Nozzolio’s office with their serviceman or woman’s name and where they are stationed. Senator Nozzolio’s Seneca Falls office can be reached toll free at 1-888-568-9816 or by emailing nozzolio@senate.state.ny.us. You can also submit this information by contacting Senator Nozzolio through his Facebook page.
“Our troops need our support. I am encouraging everyone to reach out to those brave servicemen and women and extend their thanks however they can. This annual drive is just one small way to do that,” Senator Nozzolio commented.
“We all hope for the safe return of our troops currently serving overseas. As I travel throughout my District, I meet many families with loved ones serving abroad. I have learned from them how much it truly means to our soldiers to receive packages from home. It is important that we support our soldiers and give thanks to them for what they do to protect our freedom,” concluded Senator Nozzolio.

I thank Senator Mike Nozzolio for his commitment to this important project and for helping the community to show its support for the troops,” said Mrs. McElroy.
