Maria Alvarez, the Executive Director of New York Statewide Senior Action Council will speak at the Jan. 10th 2011 meeting of SCAC. The meeting is held in the Alex Eligh Community Center at 303 East Avenue Newark, at 1:00. This meeting is an update ON THE STATUS OF SENIORS IN NEW YORK STATE. BECAUSE OF THIS IT SHOULD BE OF GREAT INTEREST TO ALL WAYNE COUNT SENIOR CITIZENS.
MARIA HAS WORKED OVER 22 YEARS WITH COMMUNITIES ACROSS NYS designing and implementing educational, social service, and leadership programs for seniors and youth and is committed to the advocacy and empowerment of these populations.
During this time, Maria has worked with senior citizens groups as an organizer, advocate and director of housing ans caregivers programs throughout the metropolitan are of NY. She holds a Bachelor's Degree from Marquette University and a Master's Degree in Non-Profit Management from the New School for Social Research where she was a Sloan Fellow.
