Despite the white stuff floating down outside, we at the WARC Plantabilities Greenhouse are planning for the 2011 growing season.
In the past, we have had Dick True, a retired school teacher, as a huge resource involving many Day Program individuals with starting seeds, transplanting and watering. Due to family constraints, Mr. True cannot be with us this year. Therefore, we are reaching out to request assistance from volunteers and/or other parts of our agency. Although various clinicians use the greenhouse for therapeutic activities, it is not staffed by the clinic. In Occupational Therapy, we hope to continue with our popular “Sassy Grassy” Easter baskets and our Mother’s Day flowering mugs, in addition to some greenhouse operation. Last year, some Day Habilitation staff and consumers were involved with the garden area outside. The greenhouse belongs to WARC to benefit all consumers, staff and people in our community.
If you don’t feel you have a green thumb but are interested in helping with organizing the greenhouse or marketing aspects, there is room for you! Some of the areas we need help with are:
All suggestions welcome.
