Wayne County Council for the Arts opens their 2010 season with the popular Wayne County High School Art Exhibit from March 10th through the 31st. We celebrate our 29th consecutive year for this exhibition of art created by students from Wayne County High Schools.
In addition to our High School Exhibit, Jane Mott will be presenting her “Theatrical Costume Design” in the Members Gallery. Jane has enjoyed working with fabric since she was a child learning from her Grandmother, Myrtie Tinney. She taught her how to sew and quilt at a very young age. She even made her own wedding gown with a train and fabric Rose veil. She has loved theater arts ever since she was in high school and her daughter was in ballet from three years old so the making of costumes just came naturally. Jane has done more than 23 productions; Including "Meet me in St. Louis", "Copella", "Sleeping Beauty", "Cinderella", "Peter Pan", “Alice in Wonderland", several "Nutcrackers", "Wizard of Oz", and the up-coming Ballet production at the Smith Opera House of "Snow White". Jane says: “A lot can be done with fabric……even make a person look like a real work of art.” She also enjoys crewel art and painting in oil and water color. Jane received a degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Opening Reception will be held on Sunday, March 13th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Parents, friends and public are welcome.
