May 22 – Ellis Parker Butler Day: On Sunday, May 22, at 4:00 PM, Ellis Parker Butler Day at Books, ETC. Several of Butler’s humorous short stories will be read and there will be a discussion of various aspects of his life. Some of his family will be there to relate a few anecdotes. Butler was the author of more than 30 books and more than 2,000 stories and essays. He is most famous for his short story "Pigs is Pigs" in which a bureaucratic stationmaster insists on levying the livestock rate for a shipment of two pet guinea pigs that soon start proliferating geometrically. Working from his home in Flushing (Queens) New York, Ellis Parker Butler was -- by every measure and by many times -- the most published author of the pulp fiction era. This program is free and open to the public at Books, ETC., 78 W. Main St., Macedon, NY. For more information, call John Cieslinski at 585-474-4116 or email books_etc@yohoo.com.
