New York State Senator Mike Nozzolio, joined by Assemblyman Bob Oaks, welcomed members of the Gananda High School Girls Varsity Basketball Team to Albany where he hosted a ceremony honoring their undefeated season and Class C New York State Championship Award. Senator Nozzolio presented the team with a special New York State Legislative Resolution that was formally adopted by the New York State Senate on May 2nd to recognize the team's victory in the State Championship tournament on March 20th.

“From the opening game of the season to capturing the State Championship, the Gananda Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team have demonstrated an unbeatable combination of athletic ability, teamwork, good sportsmanship, dedication and academic excellence,” said Senator Nozzolio. “These exceptional athletes have clearly made a contribution to the spirit of excellence that is tradition at Gananda High School.”The team was joined in Albany by Coach Tony Morabito, School Athletic Director John Tichacek, Gananda Superintendent Shawn VanScoy and team scorebook keeper Karen Morabito.

What a great moment in each of these girls lives. This is something they will never forget. Congratulations Tony for a super job in coaching these girls and overcoming the competition week after week.
