Dr. Chester Scerra has moved his practice to a beautiful new location in Palmyra. His former office, Scerra Vision Care, was located on Union Street in Newark. His new office, Palmyra Family Eyecare, is at 603 East Main Street in Palmyra (three doors west of the intersection of Route 21 North and Route 31...on the north side of the street...look for the big yellow awning).

Dr. Scerra's practice provides both routine and medical eyecare. Routine eyecare includes eye examinations, contact lenses, and glasses, while medical eyecare involves the management of disorders such as glaucoma, diabetes, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Emergency eyecare for injuries or infections is also available. The office has state-of-the-art equipment, including digital retinal photography, laser scanning tomography, and the latest visual fields testing for glaucoma and neurological disorders. A licensed optician manages the on-site optical shop, which has nearly 1000 designer frames on display. Many prescription lenses for glasses are ground right on the premises. A friendly, competent support staff is always on hand to assist patients.

Dr. Scerra completed undergraduate work at Syracuse University and then earned a Doctorate in Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He enjoyed providing eyecare in California before moving back to his home state of New York. In addition to seeing patients in his Palmyra office, he also works at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center as a staff member of the University of Rochester, Department of Ophthalmology. An award winning medical journalist, he has published over 200 articles in various medical journals. Dr. Scerra's passion is photography and many of his prize photographs are on display at his new office.

Saw the new office location on my commute through Palmyra this morning. Looks nice, and it's already made me forget which business had previously been located there.
