PGCBL President Jeff Kunion announced this morning that the Oneonta Outlaws have joined the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. The team will be owned by long time baseball operators and current owners, Dan Scaring and Keith Rogers. The team will play a 48-game schedule beginning in June where it has played the last few years, at Damaschke Field.
"The teams in the PGCBL have worked with Keith and Dan for years. They watched the development of our league and decided it would be an outstanding fit for their organization. Geographically, it makes sense, they have a great ballpark that fits in with the rest of the PGCBL and it is always beneficial to add an experienced management team to the group.", remarked Kunion. "The Outlaws constantly field a quality ball club. They were champions last year in the NYCBL, both on and off the field. Oneonta is more than ready to step up to the competitive challenges of the PGCBL."
Oneonta Outlaws Co Owner and GM Keith Rogers said, "We are excited at the opportunity to join the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League and partner with a first class organization. This move is a natural fit for our organization's baseball/business model. We are now in a tremendous league with other established programs with seasoned operators who share the same desire to run their operations much like professional baseball yet capture the essence of the college game".
The Oneonta team joins a group of eight elite collegiate teams in upstate New York. Five teams play in former New York Penn League stadiums, two in facilities that have had in excess of $1,000,000 in renovations and at Doubleday Field adjacent to the Baseball Hall of Fame. The league is affiliated with Perfect Game USA, the largest independent baseball scouting service in the United States.
