“The Chocolate War” by Robert Cormier is this year’s choice for Our Big Read. “The Chocolate War” is the story of a ninth grader who is bullied because he won’t sell chocolate candy in the school’s fundraiser. The theme of bullying is a very timely one considering the terrible and tragic events we have read recently in the newspaper. Many interesting activities have been planned for the month of March in connection with this book.
To help promote Our Big Read, several stores in the Village of Macedon are offering a free basket raffle. This basket is filled with goodies valued over $30. You need to read the book and then fill out an entry form at the following stores: Covett’s Cove, The Turn It Around Shop, Books, ETC. and Chapman’s Insurance. You can fill out one entry form in each store.
